Anchor Son Seok-hee Shares Impressions of 'Mickey17'

On February 18, during the MBC program 'Questions from Son Seok-hee', anchor Son Seok-hee engaged in a conversation with acclaimed director Bong Joon-ho. This meeting was to promote Bong's latest film, 'Mickey17', which marks his return to cinema after winning four Academy Awards for 'Parasite' in 2020.
Son mentioned that he had just watched the film for over two hours before the interview, prompting a nervous Bong to ask, 'What did you think? Was it enjoyable?' After a moment of reflection, Son praised the film, stating, 'I have a strong feeling that it will win awards again.' 'Mickey17' is set in the near future (2050) and explores the concept of humans being continuously replicated for space experiments.
Later in the discussion, Son inquired about Bong's thoughts on the current state of the Korean film industry, expressing concern over the difficulties faced by many. Bong responded, 'The situation is similar worldwide when it comes to theaters. However, I choose to think positively. The experience of watching a film together on a big screen, laughing and crying, cannot be replaced.' He added, 'As the director of the Netflix film 'Okja', I may not be the best person to comment, but I believe that even with the rise of streaming and various media, the power of cinema to deliver a true film experience will help theaters endure.'
Meanwhile, 'Questions from Son Seok-hee' is currently airing its second season, following a successful first season last summer. The premiere episode discussing political issues garnered a nationwide rating of 8.6%, capturing significant viewer interest, which continued with subsequent episodes featuring exclusive interviews and discussions on media coverage. This fourth episode marks a refreshing departure from political topics.
