Ailee Unveils New Mini Album '(Me)moir' with Fresh Sound
Ailee, the beloved singer who was cherished by the late Hwi-seong, is making her return to the music scene with a mini album titled '(Me)moir', showcasing a completely revamped sound. This album features all tracks produced by Pdogg, a renowned composer for BTS (방탄소년단) and a producer at Big Hit Music. After a year of meticulous preparation, Ailee is ready to present her work to the public. She has also produced music videos for three of the tracks, demonstrating her confidence not only in the title track 'MMI' but throughout the entire album.
The title track 'MMI' is a hip-hop R&B song rooted in Miami beats. It cleverly and humorously focuses on self-reflection, combining a bouncy, kitschy melody with Ailee's refreshing vocals, maximizing the song's invigorating feel. The album captures Ailee's signature confidence and vibrant energy, enhancing her hip appeal.
Additionally, the R&B pop track 'Illusion' offers a tight groove with its powerful bass, while the ballad 'Meaning' showcases Ailee's lyrical and narrative vocal qualities against a classic pop sound.
The album's title, '(Me)moir', cleverly combines the concept of a memoir—defining and explaining oneself—with 'Me' in parentheses, aiming to clearly reveal who 'Artist Ailee' is within the life of 'Human Lee Ye-jin'.
To amplify the authenticity and emotional expression of the lyrics, Ailee has sung all tracks in English. This bold move is expected to resonate not only with her fans in English-speaking countries but also with her audience in Japan and Southeast Asia.
