After 18 Years Since 'Princess Hours', Will Ju Ji-hoon Shine in His Romantic Comedy Return?

Actor Ju Ji-hoon is set to make a significant return to the romantic comedy genre after 18 years with tvN's new drama, 사랑은 외나무다리에서 (Love is a One-Lane Bridge), directed by Park Jun-hwa and written by Lim Ye-jin.

In 사랑은 외나무다리에서, the story revolves around two individuals born on the same day with the same name from rival families. After a painful breakup at the age of eighteen, they reunite eighteen years later, igniting a tumultuous romance filled with conflict. Ju Ji-hoon plays the role of 석지원 (Seok Ji-won), the chairman of a prestigious school and the sole rival of 윤지원 (Yoon Ji-won), portrayed by Jung Yu-mi. His character is expected to showcase a blend of cold charisma and unexpected youthful charm, stirring excitement among viewers.

Ju Ji-hoon first gained fame as the lonely crown prince 이신 (Lee Shin) in the hit series 궁 (Princess Hours), and now he returns to the small screen in a romantic comedy. During the production presentation for 사랑은 외나무다리에서 on November 18, he humorously compared the two projects, stating, "If 궁 was a green apple, 사랑은 외나무다리에서 is an apple mango. It’s sweet and refreshing like a perfectly ripened mango," raising anticipation for his comeback as a romantic comedy master.

In this new series, Ju Ji-hoon will explore the complexities of love that has evolved over time, intertwining emotions such as anger, resentment, and longing, potentially redefining the concept of 'adult romance'.

Ju Ji-hoon has been busy throughout 2024, showcasing his versatility. Earlier this year, he impressed audiences with his high-octane action performance as 우채운 (Woo Chae-woon), a former military officer turned bodyguard in Disney+'s 지배종 (Dominion). He also displayed a wide emotional range in the film 탈출 (Escape), where he played a free-spirited tow truck driver named 조박 (Jo Bak). Additionally, he is set to appear in Disney+'s upcoming series 조명가게 (The Lighting Store) as the mysterious shop owner 원영 (Won-young) on December 4, promising yet another transformation for viewers.
