aespa Wins Grand Prize at the 39th Golden Disc Awards

The K-pop group aespa has clinched the Grand Prize at the 39th Golden Disc Awards with their hit song 'Supernova.' The awards ceremony, held on January 4 at the PayPay Dome in Fukuoka, Japan, announced its winners on January 5. Due to the recent tragic incident involving a Jeju Air passenger plane, the live broadcast of the event was canceled. The organizers expressed their condolences and opted for a recorded broadcast instead, also canceling the scheduled red carpet event.
aespa's 'Supernova,' a pre-release track from their first full album 'Armageddon,' released in May last year, has enjoyed enduring popularity, topping the Circle Chart as the most streamed song of the year.
This marks aespa's return to the spotlight after winning the Rookie Award at the 36th Golden Disc Awards in 2022, achieving the Grand Prize three years later.
The Rookie of the Year award was shared by the groups ILY:1 and Tours, while the popularity awards went to LE SSERAFIM and the virtual idol group PlayB. JYP's band DAY6, which has gained significant popularity over the past year, was awarded Best Band, and Crush took home the Best OST award. LE SSERAFIM was recognized as Best Group, and NewJeans received the Cosmopolitan Artist Award.
The late Shin Hae-chul was honored with the Golden Honorable Choice award, and the group Kiss of Life was named Next Generation.
The Digital Song Awards were presented to NewJeans, DAY6, BIBI, IVE, IU, ILY:1, aespa, Taeyeon, Tours, and (G)I-DLE.
The recorded broadcast will air on January 6 at midnight, with the album category set to be broadcast on January 7 at 1:20 AM.
