aespa Surprised by First Award Win at 2024 MAMA Awards

On November 22, 2024, the K-pop group aespa was announced as the first winner at the '2024 MAMA Awards Japan' held at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka. The award for 'Fans' Choice' was presented by actors Gong Myung and Kim Min Ha, who called aespa to the stage as the inaugural winners of the evening. The members appeared visibly surprised by the announcement.

Upon receiving the award, aespa expressed their gratitude, stating, "We didn’t expect to win the first award so suddenly. Thank you to our My (fans) for always loving us and enjoying our music. We will work even harder to become artists who can give back to you."

They continued, "We are grateful to SM Entertainment for their support this year, and we appreciate all the hard work from everyone involved. We love our My so much and thank you for your unwavering support. This year, we released our first full album and successfully completed our tour. We are thankful to everyone who helped us along the way."

Notably, member Giselle was unable to attend the ceremony due to an allergic reaction, as confirmed by SM Entertainment, which stated that she needed to monitor her condition and would miss the 'Fans' Choice' award presentation and the red carpet event scheduled for November 23.

Following aespa, the group IVE was announced as the second 'Fans' Choice' winner. They expressed their appreciation, saying, "First of all, thank you to our fans, DIVE. We are truly grateful. It is very meaningful to receive this award alongside our beloved colleagues. Thank you to all the DIVE who supported us."

The third award was presented to (G)I-DLE, who were not in attendance at the '2024 MAMA Awards.'
