aespa Shines at MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2025 with Four Wins

K-pop sensation aespa has solidified their status as a 'global hitmaker' with a remarkable performance at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2025 (VMAJ) held on March 19 at the K Arena Yokohama. The group took home four awards, including 'Artist of the Year,' and captivated local fans with their powerful stage presence.
During the event, aespa won 'Best Group Video' for their title track 'Whiplash' from their fifth mini-album, as well as 'Best Dance Video' and 'Best K-POP Video' for their double title tracks 'Supernova' and 'Armageddon' from their first studio album. This achievement marks a historic milestone as aespa became the first female artist to win four awards at the VMAJ.
Expressing their gratitude, aespa stated, "We are thrilled that our music has reached so many people, and we want to thank our Japanese MY for their unwavering support." Following their acceptance speech, they delivered an outstanding performance of 'Whiplash' that left the audience mesmerized.
Previously, aespa also won two awards at the 39th Japan Gold Disc Awards, including 'New Artist of the Year' and 'Best 3 New Artists.' Their recent accolades at the VMAJ further highlight their growing global popularity and influence.
Since their official debut in Japan with the single 'Hot Mess' on July 3, 2022, aespa has demonstrated immense local popularity, selling out two arena tours and making history as the first overseas female artist to perform at the Tokyo Dome for two consecutive years.
Looking ahead, aespa is set to participate in the 'Summer Sonic 2025' festival in Tokyo this August, which attracts over 200,000 attendees annually.
