ADOR Responds to NewJeans' Contract Termination Claims, Prepares for 2024 Comeback

In a recent turn of events, NewJeans has unilaterally declared the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR. Both parties have released detailed responses to clarify the situation. ADOR expressed hope that the NewJeans members would understand their position after receiving the official correspondence, which consisted of 26 pages addressing the members' concerns. Previously, NewJeans had sent a notice titled 'Request for Correction of Exclusive Contract Violations,' demanding that ADOR rectify several significant breaches within 14 days of receipt.

On November 29, ADOR stated, "NewJeans sent a notice to the company on the 13th, outlining eight requests. We have taken the best possible actions regarding each issue and responded sincerely via email and certified mail by the deadline of November 28." They added that they hope to have an open and honest discussion with NewJeans to support their growth as global artists.

Furthermore, ADOR emphasized their commitment to fulfilling the artists' needs as a management agency. Alongside the response, ADOR shared an email from CEO Kim Joo-young to the NewJeans members, acknowledging the anxiety felt by the group and reiterating their dedication to addressing the members' requests.

Kim Joo-young also mentioned that the team is diligently planning for next year's activities and the concept for a new album. He expressed disappointment over Min Hee-jin's recent decision to step back from working with NewJeans but noted that they are exploring various domestic and international producers to maximize the members' potential.

He added, "Our doors remain open, and it would be wonderful if Hee-jin decided to return to ADOR as NewJeans' producer. We believe that if the members participate, we can create amazing music that reflects their true selves."

On November 28, NewJeans held an emergency press conference, stating, "ADOR lacks the will and ability to protect NewJeans," and announced their contract termination. In response, ADOR asserted that they have not violated the contract and that the unilateral breakdown of trust does not constitute grounds for termination. They maintain that the exclusive contract remains valid.

In the email sent to the members, Kim Joo-young expressed his disappointment at not being able to meet them in person after receiving the notice and shared the emotional turmoil felt by the ADOR team, who view NewJeans as their only artists. He reiterated their commitment to preparing for NewJeans' future activities and expressed a desire for open communication to resolve misunderstandings.

The situation continues to develop as both sides navigate this complex issue, with NewJeans preparing for their next steps and ADOR committed to supporting their artists.
