ADOR Confirms Legal Action to Validate Contract with NewJeans

On December 5, 2024, ADOR announced that it has initiated legal proceedings to confirm the validity of its exclusive contract with the girl group NewJeans. The lawsuit was filed at the Seoul Central District Court on December 3, with ADOR seeking a legal declaration that the contract remains in effect.
In its statement, ADOR expressed regret over the need for legal intervention, stating that it did not wish to resolve issues with its artists through the courts. However, the company felt it necessary to clarify to both the artists and other stakeholders that the contract cannot be unilaterally terminated based on one party's claims.
ADOR emphasized that the support it provides to its artists is based on mutual trust and the expectation of shared growth over time. The company warned that if the fundamental agreement of the contract is not upheld, it could undermine the significant investments made in the K-pop industry, which relies on a stable partnership between artists and their management.
Despite the ongoing legal situation, ADOR reiterated its commitment to working with NewJeans, stating that it has not yet had the opportunity to communicate with the artists despite multiple requests. The company aims to resolve any misunderstandings that may have arisen.
Previously, on November 28, NewJeans held a press conference claiming that their contract with ADOR was terminated due to the company's failure to fulfill its obligations. Member Minji stated, "We have done nothing wrong. The contract was automatically terminated due to violations by ADOR and HYBE, so we believe there is no need for a legal injunction. We will continue with our scheduled activities."
In light of these developments, ADOR hopes to clarify the situation and maintain a healthy relationship with NewJeans, ensuring that the K-pop industry continues to thrive based on trust and collaboration.
