Actress Jung Ga-eun Becomes First Female Taxi Driver at Company After Overcoming Challenges

Jung Ga-eun (정가은), a 47-year-old actress who has openly shared her struggles with financial difficulties following her divorce, has successfully passed an interview to become a taxi driver. On June 16, she shared her journey on her YouTube channel, showcasing her interview process with a taxi company.
Initially, Jung revealed that many taxi companies she contacted were not hiring women or did not offer part-time positions, which she was seeking while balancing her responsibilities as a mother and a performer. After persistent efforts, she found a company that offered part-time roles and dressed neatly for her interview.
During the interview, a company representative explained the pay structure, noting that they had not hired any women in their 65-year history. Jung was informed that she would be the first female driver at the company. The representative clarified that there would be no commission fees; drivers would simply pay the company the amount shown on the meter and receive a fixed salary, with the potential for bonuses based on performance.
Jung expressed her belief that working as a taxi driver would provide valuable life lessons. She also shared that her father had been a taxi driver, which contributed to her strong service-oriented mindset.
After passing the interview, Jung Ga-eun signed up for driver’s insurance. However, a teaser for the next episode raised questions as the manager mentioned that while all interviews were completed, she could not yet drive the car outside, only participate in training.
Jung Ga-eun debuted as a model in 1997 and gained fame through her role in tvN's Roller Coaster (롤러코스터). She married a businessman in 2016 and had a daughter, but the couple divorced in 2017. Last year, she made headlines by revealing her financial struggles post-divorce.
