Actress Han Ji-min Targeted by Online Harassment; Perpetrator Sent to Prosecutors

A woman in her 30s has been sent to prosecutors without detention for leaving malicious posts directed at actress Han Ji-min (한지민), who is 43 years old. On March 28, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul reported that the woman, referred to as A, is facing charges of intimidation and defamation against Han Ji-min.

The allegations stem from 19 posts made on A's social media account between September and October of last year, in which she threatened to disrupt Han's film projects and told her to 'shut up.' Investigations revealed that A tagged Han and her acquaintances in these derogatory and threatening messages.

The police identified A after receiving a complaint from Han's agency, BH Entertainment, and subsequently requested assistance from the social media platform based in the United States to determine her identity.

In November of last year, BH Entertainment had already filed a complaint with the Gangnam Police regarding the malicious comments targeting Han Ji-min. The agency stated, 'We have confirmed ongoing malicious slander and personal attacks against Han Ji-min, as well as the indiscriminate spread of false information. After hiring a law firm, we submitted a complaint to the Gangnam Police.' They also emphasized their commitment to taking strong legal action against any defamation and insults occurring on various social media platforms, online communities, cafes, and portal sites.

The agency further declared, 'Actions that defame our actors' reputations and insult their dignity online are clear criminal acts, and we will not entertain any settlements or leniency.' They also called for reports regarding malicious posts.
