Actress Do Ji-won to Appear on MBC's Radio Star

Actress Do Ji-won is set to make an appearance on MBC's popular variety show, Radio Star (라디오스타), showcasing her impressive flexibility and unique presence, reminiscent of her background with the National Ballet of Korea. During the episode, she will reveal her surprising connection as a direct senior to world-class ballerina Kang Soo-jin.

The episode, airing on June 11, features a special segment titled 'Actor's World' with guests including Do Ji-won, Kim Geum-soon, Cha Cheong-hwa, and Han Ji-eun.

Do Ji-won recently shared behind-the-scenes stories from her drama Treasure Island (보물섬), particularly a memorable hair-pulling scene with actress Kim Jung-ran. She humorously recounted how Kim commented on her thick hair, which added a layer of realism to their action sequence. Additionally, she expressed her satisfaction with her co-star Woo Hyun's portrayal of a high-ranking character, eliciting laughter from the audience.

The actress also discussed her role in the legendary historical drama Women of the Dynasty (여인천하), clarifying that the iconic line "Mwe ya?" was not originally hers. While other actors used the same line, it eventually became her signature catchphrase.

Women of the Dynasty garnered significant attention, achieving nearly 50% viewership ratings. Initially planned for 50 episodes, the series was extended twice, concluding with a total of 150 episodes. Do Ji-won shared a shocking anecdote about a scene where her character had to drink poison, revealing that cola even leaked from her ears after filming.

Having been with the same agency for 27 years, Do Ji-won revealed that the name 'Namoo Actors' was coined by her fellow early member Moon Geun-young, showcasing her loyalty.

In a surprising twist, she mentioned her participation in the 1986 Asian Games and her performance at the opening ceremony of the 1988 Seoul Olympics, sharing vivid memories from her time with the National Ballet of Korea. She even demonstrated her exceptional stretching skills on the spot, leaving the MCs in awe.

Do Ji-won also disclosed her connection with Kang Soo-jin, noting that they both graduated from the same arts high school. Although she did not pursue ballet for long, she credited her training for making her comfortable on stage even today.
