Actress Cha Young-ok Shares Heartbreaking Story of Fraud Victimization

In the latest episode of MBN's current affairs program, 특종세상 (Exclusive World), actress Cha Young-ok opened up about her harrowing experience as a victim of fraud amounting to millions of won. The 31-year veteran actress, known for her elegant looks and roles as a wealthy housewife, has been living in seclusion for the past four years.
The episode highlighted her current life working at her brother's meat restaurant, where she serves customers with familiarity. Cha revealed that seven years ago, she fell in love and married against her siblings' wishes. Reflecting on her past, she stated, "I was blinded by love during a time when I couldn't date, and he kept sweet-talking me."
She recounted how the man, who claimed to be a construction company CEO, sent her a bank statement showing 30 billion won, promising monthly payments of 1 billion won. He convinced her to lend him money for his business, assuring her that he would double her investment.
Now living alone above her brother's restaurant, Cha has lost her entire fortune and has been in hiding. She revealed that since 2019, she has filed numerous lawsuits, with piles of legal documents surrounding her. Cha has been a victim of fraud since 2017, with her losses, including interest, totaling around 500 to 600 million won. "My life, which I built over the years, has been completely destroyed," she lamented.
