Actor Yoo Ah-in Sells Itaewon Home to 7-Year-Old Buyer Amid Ongoing Drug Trial
Yoo Ah-in (유아인), the actor currently facing trial for habitual drug use, has sold his house in Itaewon, Seoul, to a 7-year-old buyer. According to reports on December 26, the transfer of ownership for the property was registered on December 19, following a sales contract signed on November 20. The young buyer, born in 2017, reportedly paid the full amount of 6.3 billion KRW in cash without any loans.
Previously, Yoo showcased the Itaewon home on MBC's 'I Live Alone' before selling it for the same amount last month. The buyer's surname is Park, and the registered address at the time of the ownership transfer is linked to the residence of Park Hwa-mok, CEO of Peace Peace Studio, and designer Lee Soo-hyun, suggesting that the property is likely intended for their child.
Real estate experts speculate that the actual investment cost, including gift taxes, could approach 10 billion KRW, given that a 7-year-old is listed as the property owner. Additionally, there are predictions in the fashion industry that the Park couple may later change the property's use to serve as an office or store.
Meanwhile, Yoo Ah-in has been indicted for repeatedly using medical propofol under the guise of cosmetic procedures from September 2020 to March 2022, totaling 181 instances. He is also accused of illegally obtaining over 1,100 doses of two types of sleeping pills under other people's names between May 2021 and August 2022, and for smoking marijuana three times in the U.S. with acquaintances in January of this year.
In the first trial, Yoo was found guilty of habitual drug use and illegal acquisition of sleeping pills, receiving a one-year prison sentence. However, he was acquitted of charges related to marijuana use and evidence tampering due to insufficient evidence. Both the prosecution and Yoo's side have appealed the sentence, citing unfairness in the ruling.
During the recent second trial's closing arguments, the prosecution requested a four-year prison sentence, the same as in the first trial, along with a fine of 2 million KRW and a confiscation order of 1.54 million KRW.
