Actor Song Young-kyu Faces Legal Trouble After DUI Incident

Actor Song Young-kyu (송영규) has come under scrutiny after it was revealed that he was driving under the influence. Reports indicate that he is currently without a management agency following the expiration of his contract. As of early June, Song was still affiliated with Management Goo, but he is now pursuing acting independently. A representative from his former agency confirmed to OSEN that while they cannot specify the exact date of the contract's end, Song is no longer with them.

On the same day, it was reported that Song is being investigated by the police for allegedly driving while intoxicated. The Yongin Dongbu Police Department in Gyeonggi Province has forwarded the case to the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office for further action. The incident reportedly occurred on June 19, when Song was driving approximately 5 kilometers from Giheung District to Cheoin District while heavily intoxicated. Police received a tip-off from a witness who suspected him of drunk driving, leading to his identification and arrest.

Upon conducting a breathalyzer test, authorities found that Song's blood alcohol concentration was at a level that would warrant a license suspension (0.08% or higher). Investigations revealed that he had been drinking with friends in the Giheung area before driving home.

Song Young-kyu made his acting debut in 1994 with the children's musical 'Mertel Dosa' and has since appeared in popular films such as 'Extreme Job' and series like Netflix's 'Suriname' and Disney+'s 'Casino.' He is currently starring in the ENA drama 'I Shopping' and is set to appear in the SBS drama 'Try: We Become a Miracle,' which premieres on July 25. Additionally, he will be performing in the play 'Shakespeare in Love' at the Arts Center until September 14.
