Actor Shim Hyung-tak and Japanese Wife Hirai Saya Welcome Their First Child

Actor Shim Hyung-tak and his Japanese wife, Hirai Saya, have joyfully announced the birth of their son. The couple shared the news on January 15, 2025, revealing photos of their newborn's hands and feet. They have named their son 'Haru.' Shim Hyung-tak expressed his gratitude, saying, "Hello, Haru. Thank you for coming to be with Mom and Dad. We will protect you now. We love you." Hirai Saya added, "We finally met. He is so lovely that words cannot express it. His name is Haru. Thank you for being born, Haru."
The couple's love story began when Shim Hyung-tak visited Japan for work and fell in love at first sight with Hirai Saya, who was then an employee at a well-known toy company. They announced their marriage in April 2023, held their first wedding ceremony in Japan in July, and celebrated another ceremony in Korea in August.
Shim Hyung-tak's journey to fatherhood is particularly poignant given his challenging family history. He had previously faced significant financial difficulties due to his mother's risky investments, which led to a lawsuit that halted his career. However, with Hirai Saya's support, he found the strength to move forward. The court ultimately ruled in favor of Shim Hyung-tak, declaring him not guilty while ordering his mother to repay a substantial amount.
Feeling relieved, Shim Hyung-tak has since appeared on various entertainment shows, including 'The Love of Joseon' and 'Groom Class,' where he openly expressed his deep affection for Hirai Saya. The couple also received many congratulations when they announced Hirai Saya's pregnancy. In November of the previous year, they took a trip that combined their honeymoon with prenatal care.
'Groom Class' had planned to air a special segment celebrating the couple's new addition on January 15, but due to breaking news regarding the arrest of President Yoon Suk-yeol, the show was postponed. As a result, viewers will have to wait until January 22 to witness this touching moment.
The arrest of President Yoon Suk-yeol has caused scheduling changes across various broadcasting networks. While Channel A has canceled 'Groom Class,' KBS1's daily drama 'Let's Get Married, Maenggong!' and MBC's 'Kind-hearted Seonju' have also been affected. SBS's 'Goal Diggers' will air 10 minutes later than usual.
