Actor Jo Jin-woong Voices Support at Rally Demanding President Yoon's Impeachment

On December 21, actor Jo Jin-woong made a notable appearance via video at a rally in Gwanghwamun, where participants were urging for the impeachment decision against President Yoon Seok-yeol. The event, broadcasted live on the '촛불행동tv' YouTube channel, began around 3 PM.

In his message, Jo greeted the audience, saying, "Hello, I am actor Jo Jin-woong." He reminded attendees of the Gwangju Democratic Uprising, stating, "Do you remember? The bloodshed that protected our democracy. Our people deeply understand the meaning of that vibrant democracy. Yet, it was brutally destroyed by a state of emergency."

He continued, "However, our people united to overcome that tyranny. Therefore, we, the citizens, are the true heroes of this era. In a time when the leaders of insurrection threatened to undermine democracy, it was the people who stood as true heroes."

Jo emphasized his commitment as a citizen of South Korea to closely monitor the serious situation and vowed to support the preservation of democracy until victory is achieved. His passionate remarks received enthusiastic applause from the crowd.

This rally took place following the National Assembly's approval of the second impeachment motion against President Yoon on December 15, which passed with 204 votes in favor, 85 against, 3 abstentions, and 8 invalid votes. Consequently, on the first weekend after the motion's approval, rallies were held nationwide, calling for the swift arrest of President Yoon and a prompt ruling from the Constitutional Court on the impeachment.
