Actor Jo Dal-hwan Shares His Struggles with Stuttering on 'Four-Person Table'

In a recent episode of Channel A's 'Four-Person Table' aired on February 3, actor Jo Dal-hwan opened up about his past struggles with stuttering, which he attributes to a serious accident he experienced as a child. When asked about his journey to becoming an actor, Jo revealed, "I have a habit of stuttering, and for a year, a writing teacher helped me with my writing skills. It turns out I have dyslexia, dysgraphia, and stuttering all at once." He recounted a traumatic incident where he fell from a rooftop during his childhood, resulting in a head injury that left him in a coma for three days. After waking up, he began to stutter.

Jo shared that his writing teacher encouraged him to read extensively for a year. He also mentioned a friend who is a voice actor, noting that his unique voice caught the teacher's attention. He reflected on the influence of renowned actor Han Seok-kyu, who was popular at the time, and how he felt destined to become an actor, especially since he resembled his seniors in appearance and height. The importance of a good teacher was emphasized by everyone present during the discussion.

Additionally, Jo, who has dyslexia, explained his unique method of memorizing scripts using numbers, colors, and shapes. He surprised viewers by showcasing his meticulously annotated script. He concluded by stating, "Acting is not just about memorizing lines; it's about expressing them well."
