Actor Hwang Woo-yeon Reveals He Was a Victim of Fraud

On December 12, during an episode of MBN's 특종세상 (Exclusive World), actor Hwang Woo-yeon opened up about a difficult period in his life after being scammed by an acquaintance. Known for his impactful role in 야인시대 (The Age of Heroes), Hwang shared that he was happy just a year ago, enjoying parties and socializing, but everything changed dramatically.

He disclosed that he was defrauded of 400 million KRW by a friend who claimed to run a golf practice facility. Hwang expressed his feelings of shame, stating, 'I have no face to show my wife. I lent money a year ago and never got it back. I promised myself I wouldn’t lend money again, but I did it consecutively and lost a lot.'

The perpetrator not only ignored Hwang's attempts to reach out but also fled, leaving Hwang in such despair that he contemplated writing a will. Until now, he had kept the fraud a secret from his wife, but he finally confessed to her while they were working together at their restaurant. His wife responded with frustration, saying, 'Didn’t I tell you to stop before? If someone is determined to scam, anyone can fall victim.'

Recently, Hwang has started volunteering, stating, 'I couldn’t control my emotions or anger. Through these activities, I can momentarily escape my pain.'
