A Troubled Life Leads to Name Change Consideration on 'Ask Anything' Show

In the upcoming episode of the KBS JOY variety show '무엇이든 물어보살' (Ask Anything), airing on February 17 at 8:30 PM, a woman shares her challenging life story that has led her to contemplate changing her name. She recounts a traumatic childhood marked by her mother leaving home, her youngest sibling being sent to the countryside, and growing up under the abusive care of her father. "It wasn't just a matter of being hit; there were times I nearly lost my life," she reflects.

After four years of living with her stepmother, she faced severe abuse when she was caught using money meant for her father's errands for personal use, resulting in her being tied up and assaulted in a bathtub.

Seeking refuge, she fled to her older sister, but tragedy struck when her father suffered a stroke and passed away after surgery. Following his death, her stepmother disappeared with the family assets, leaving her with nothing. Struggling to survive, she worked various jobs until she met her husband. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, she was diagnosed with kidney disease and began dialysis while trying to maintain her job.

Fortunately, her husband offered to donate a kidney, and after the surgery, they envisioned a brighter future. Yet, they soon faced more hardships, leading her to confess, "There were times I wanted to give up on life due to everything that happened in the past year." In response, 서장훈 (Seo Jang-hoon) comforted her, stating, "It's foolish to have negative thoughts influenced by your circumstances. Life has its ups and downs."

Additionally, 이수근 (Lee Soo-geun) shared that his wife has been on dialysis for ten years, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing health despite difficulties. He married 박지연 (Park Ji-yeon) in 2008, and she has faced her own health challenges, including kidney issues during her second pregnancy and a kidney transplant from her father in 2011, with a recommendation for a second transplant in 2021, which has touched many hearts.
