A Six-Year Journey Through Trot: Recalling the Legendary Stages of Miss and Mr. Trot

Fans can relive the iconic moments that led to the rise of heroes from Miss and Mr. Trot. TV Chosun announced on the 25th that it will air a special program titled 'Miss and Mr. Trot Memory Journey' every Tuesday night until the end of the year, showcasing the nail-biting competition scenes, the moments of star births, and behind-the-scenes stories from the shows.

The first episode of 'Mr. Trot 3', set to premiere on November 19, will feature stars from the first season, including Jang Min-ho, Young-tak, Kim Hee-jae, Lee Chan-won, and Jung Dong-won, as masters of the competition. This special program will revisit the touching moments from 'Miss Trot 1-3' and 'Mr. Trot 1-2', guided by the beloved MC Kim Sung-joo, who has been part of the Miss and Mr. Trot journey over the past six years.

Miss and Mr. Trot have rewritten broadcasting history with record-breaking viewership and legendary performances. The special live broadcast that determined the first winner of 'Mr. Trot 1' saw an unprecedented 7,731,781 text votes from the public. After winning the crown, Lim Young-woong solidified his position as the reigning king of the male solo category in the music industry. Young-tak, who has also been active as a songwriter, composer, and producer, expanded his career into acting, while Lee Chan-won, who dreamed of winning a major entertainment award ten years later, was recognized as a multi-entertainer after winning the Best Entertainment Award at the KBS Entertainment Awards last year.

The first scene of the 'Miss and Mr. Trot Memory Journey', airing every Tuesday night on TV Chosun, will kick off with a film. 'Mr. Trot: The Movie', airing on the night of the 26th at 9:50 PM, is a cinematic version of the show that recorded an astonishing peak viewership rating of 35.7%. The film captures the journey of Lim Young-woong, Young-tak, Lee Chan-won, Jung Dong-won, Jang Min-ho, and Kim Hee-jae as they establish themselves as new stars, along with the live performance from the 'Mr. Trot National Thank You Concert' in Seoul. The top six performers deliver over 30 songs, with their heartfelt emotions conveyed through every note.

Focusing on the revival of the often-overlooked trot genre and the growth of its artists, the film encapsulates the tears and sweat of the top six that were not fully captured on air. Special camping stories featuring the top six reveal candid tales that have never been heard before.

In the film narrated by Lim Young-woong, the now 'national stars' reflect on their youthful struggles and fears. After a decade of obscurity, Lim Young-woong shares, "There’s an overwhelming feeling that words can’t express when I sing. I feel like I could cry while singing." Lee Chan-won, who declared a '25-year trot journey', shyly admits, "I really love trot. Now I have a dream," while Kim Hee-jae reassures himself, saying, "I can definitely do well."

The chemistry between the eldest member Jang Min-ho and the youngest Jung Dong-won brings smiles, as Jung Dong-won states, "We may not share blood, but we are like family." The moments where the top six support each other like brothers evoke strong emotions in viewers. Starting December 3, the 'Miss and Mr. Trot Memory Journey' will invite viewers every Tuesday night at 10 PM for six episodes. The first episode, titled 'The Birth of Trot Hero Lim Young-woong', will focus on Lim Young-woong, who has transformed into a modern cultural icon beyond trot.

The episode will center around songs that gained new recognition through Lim Young-woong's performances. Highlights include his renditions of songs like 'Wish' by Na So-young, 'A Story of a 60-Year-Old Couple' by Kim Kwang-seok, 'Betrayer' by Do Sung, and 'Love' by Park Cheol-woo, as well as 'Becoming a Thousand Winds' performed with Jung Dong-won. The episode will also revisit 'One Day Suddenly', which moved the original artist Jeong Soo-ra, and Lim Young-woong's rendition of 'Despacito' infused with his unique charm. Additionally, a compilation of various impersonation shows and performances from TV Chosun's entertainment programs will be featured in a 'collection (.zip)' style, popular among younger audiences.

The second episode will focus on 'The Trot Renaissance Brought by Mr. Trot TOP 6 & Current Trot Artists Discovered by TV Chosun'. It will showcase the music of the Mr. Trot TOP 6, who ushered in a new golden age for trot, alongside performances from active trot artists. The third episode, titled 'The Century's Rivalry that Shook the Trot World', will capture the emotional highs and lows of the Mr. Trot death match. The fourth episode will highlight the 'Trot Queen' Song Ga-in and other stars from 'Miss Trot', showcasing their best performances in 'The Sweet and Fierce Women of the World'. The fifth episode will be themed 'Songs Dedicated to Parents', featuring Young-tak's 'A Glass of Makgeolli', Jang Min-ho's 'Do You Know My Name?', Kim Tae-yeon's 'Father's River', Oh Yu-jin's 'Grandmother', and Lee Soo-yeon's 'My Father'. The final sixth episode, 'Revisiting the Best Stages of Miss & Mr. Trot', will compile songs that have garnered over 10 million views on TV Chosun's official YouTube channel, along with the best moments from each season. The production team stated, "TV Chosun has changed the landscape of Korean popular culture over the past six years, and we will present a wealth of materials accumulated during this time, inviting viewers into the world of trot stars that can only be seen on TV Chosun."
