A Decade-Old Promise Revives Hopes for 'Documentary 3 Days' Return

A promise made ten years ago at Andong Station is sparking renewed interest in the potential revival of KBS 2TV's 'Documentary 3 Days' (다큐멘터리 3일). The video that has recently gone viral online was originally aired in the summer of 2015. During the filming, the crew met two university students traveling across the country on a train journey called 'Tomorrow' (내일로). As the shoot concluded, the students suggested they reunite for another trip in ten years and urged the crew to document it. They made an impromptu promise to meet again on August 15, 2025, sealing it with a pinky swear. Fast forward to 2025, and the promise has gained traction on social media, with various corporate accounts, including Coupang, Albamon, and Korail Distribution, joining in on this 'Youth Promise.' KBS's official YouTube channel has even re-edited and released the touching scene under the title 'The Promise of Youth from 10 Years Ago at Andong Station on August 15, 2025, at 7:48 AM.' The cinematographer added to the excitement with a social media post stating, 'After nine summers since the train left, the tenth day is approaching.' However, the original Andong Station, where the promise was made, has since moved to Songhyeon-dong in 2020 and is now a cultural arts space called 'Modi684.' There are also concerns about its demolition, raising questions about the promise's location. This nostalgic video has also sparked calls for the revival of 'Documentary 3 Days,' which was canceled in March 2022 after 15 years of documenting various stories across the nation. The show faced production limitations and declining viewership due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Jo Jung-hoon, a producer at KBS, reflected on the show's impact, stating it deepened the crew's understanding of people, places, and eras. He expressed gratitude to all the participants who shared their lives on camera, noting that many continued to stay in touch after filming, sharing milestones like jobs, marriages, and even heart-wrenching farewells. As the date approaches, all eyes are on Andong Station to see if the promise made a decade ago will lead to a new chapter in storytelling.
