90-Year-Old Woman Dies from Heatstroke Amid Ongoing Heatwave in Incheon

In Incheon, a 90-year-old woman has tragically died from heatstroke as the region experiences its fifth consecutive day of extreme heat warnings. According to local authorities, the incident occurred on July 29, 2025, when the woman's daughter-in-law called emergency services around 4:20 PM, reporting that the elderly woman was lying down and unable to speak. Emergency responders arrived and transported her to a hospital, but she was pronounced dead about an hour later, at 5:25 PM. At the time of her collapse, her body temperature was recorded at a staggering 40.4 degrees Celsius. The city of Incheon is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding her death, which is believed to be linked to the ongoing heatwave that has been in effect since July 25, 2025. Since May 15, 2025, a total of 188 cases of heat-related illnesses have been reported in the Incheon area.
