50s Man Arrested for Prostitution Operation in Daegu

A man in his 50s has been apprehended by the Daegu Jungbu Police for allegedly running a prostitution operation out of an officetel near a police station. The police reported on June 9 that the suspect, identified as Mr. A, has been charged with violating laws related to the solicitation of prostitution. Alongside him, around 40 individuals, including female employees and male clients, have also been implicated in the same offenses.

Mr. A is accused of employing female workers to facilitate prostitution for male clients at an officetel located in Beomeo-dong, Daegu, from February to December of last year. He reportedly rented three officetels and posted advertisements for prostitution on various online entertainment platforms. Investigations revealed that he verified the identities of potential clients by collecting their identification cards, business cards, and pay stubs before proceeding with the arrangements. It is estimated that Mr. A generated approximately 300 million KRW in illicit profits during this period.

The police began their investigation after receiving a tip in December regarding prostitution activities occurring at the officetel near Beomeo Police Station, leading to Mr. A's arrest. Additionally, the Daegu Jungbu and Seobu Police have conducted a joint operation targeting six prostitution establishments in the region, resulting in the investigation of over 200 individuals, including business owners and clients.
