38 Vietnamese Tourists Go Missing in Jeju After Failing to Board Return Flight

A group of Vietnamese tourists visiting Jeju Island under a visa waiver has made headlines after 38 out of approximately 80 individuals failed to board their return flight. The tourists arrived on a chartered VietJet Air flight from Nha Trang on November 14. It was reported that these individuals disappeared after visiting a tourist site on November 17, just before their scheduled departure. They are allowed to stay in Jeju for a maximum of 30 days under the visa waiver program, which means they must leave by December 14 to avoid overstaying their visa. As a result of this incident, six scheduled VietJet Air charter flights from December 25 to February 13 have been canceled. Officials from the Jeju Immigration Office are currently reviewing CCTV footage around tourist areas to locate the missing tourists and plan to establish a task force to apprehend any individuals who remain in the area after the 14th.
