30s Man Arrested for Submitting Fake Medical Certificates to Delay Trial

A man in his 30s has been arrested and indicted for submitting forged medical certificates to delay his trial for nearly two years. The Daegu District Prosecutors' Office announced on February 3 that the individual, referred to as A, faces charges of forgery of private documents and the use of forged documents.

From 2023, A allegedly forged 26 medical certificates under the name of a hospital in Seoul and submitted them to the court to postpone his trial. According to prosecutors, A was already in custody facing charges of drunk driving and theft when he claimed that he could not serve his sentence due to pancreatitis, leading to his release on bail. However, it was later revealed that A was only suffering from a mild form of pancreatitis that required outpatient treatment. Fearing a prison sentence, A resorted to falsifying medical documents to further delay the legal proceedings.
