In a recent interview, Lim Seulong answered several questions about his solo comeback.
Q: How do you feel about releasing a solo project after eight years?
A: It’s a mix of nervousness and excitement. We have prepared a variety of content for fans to enjoy alongside the album, so I hope for their interest and support.
Q: Can you tell us about the background and preparation for your solo album?
A: I have long desired to release a solo album. With the time that has passed, I felt the need for thorough preparation, which required a lot of courage. I believe this album will guide my musical journey ahead. I worked hard to blend various genres into one cohesive album, collaborating with talented songwriters and composers, including my bandmate Jinwoon, who contributed to one of the tracks. My main goal was to create comfortable music that doesn’t strain the listener's ears while authentically conveying my stories through lyrics and musical mood.
Q: You participated in writing the lyrics for 'Mist'. What was your focus?
A: I wanted to express the happiness and beauty of the precious moments spent with someone, even if the love didn’t come to fruition. It’s a beautiful process to convey complex emotions through melody and lyrics.
Q: The track 'Image' was written and composed by your bandmate Jinwoon.
A: I have always enjoyed Jinwoon’s work and thought he was incredibly talented. I asked him to collaborate, and he graciously agreed. He delivered an excellent song that exceeded my expectations, and I feel proud to have such a reliable teammate.
Q: Popular actor Lee Junyoung appeared in your music video. How did that come about?
A: Since 'Rainbow Light' is a rhythmic song that depicts the complexities of love, I thought about how to express those emotions in the music video. I wanted to find an artist who could authentically convey deep human emotions through dance, and Lee Junyoung came to mind. Thankfully, we had a good relationship, and he readily accepted my invitation to participate. I felt both grateful and guilty for the physical demands of the shoot, as he maintained a bright smile throughout.
Q: 2AM recently celebrated its 17th anniversary. What are your thoughts on this milestone, and did your bandmates share anything special during the preparation of your album?
A: We have become like family, allowing us to approach everything with joy and comfort. I feel immense gratitude that we can still be together after 17 years. Throughout the preparation of my solo album, my members provided genuine support and encouragement, which made the process even more meaningful. I am truly happy to work alongside such wonderful members.
Q: What are your goals for this album's activities?
A: My biggest wish is to consistently release albums and share music with my fans. I want to sing more on stage and continue to improve my vocal skills to deliver even better music.
Q: Any final words for your fans?
A: I carry a deep sense of gratitude and an indescribable feeling of apology for the unwavering love from my fans over the past 17 years. I will strive to show a more developed version of myself through this album and in all future moments. I will do my best to return the love I have received, and even more. I love you all always.
