2AM Reflects on Career Milestones and Upcoming Concerts in New Interview

K-pop group 2AM has unveiled a new photoshoot and interview in the December issue of <아레나>. As they approach their 17th anniversary next year, the group is generating excitement with their year-end concert series titled <2am is coming to town>, which began in November.

When asked about the most pivotal song in their career over the past decade, all four members unanimously chose 'Friend's Confession' (친구의 고백). Jinwoon recalled, "This track was part of our second single album, but its streaming performance fell far short of our expectations at the time. After that, we actively participated in variety shows to promote it, and then 'You Can't Let Go' (죽어도 못 보내) was released."

The members also shared their thoughts on preparing the concert playlist, noting the challenge of selecting songs from their extensive discography. Changmin mentioned, "If someone attends all ten of our concerts, they might want to hear songs that we rarely perform or new arrangements. However, many first-time attendees might just be thinking, 'Should I go to a concert since it's the end of the year?' If we keep introducing newly arranged songs, it could feel unfamiliar and uncomfortable for them. They might think, 'This isn't the music I came to hear.' Personally, I believe that having about 30% of the setlist as newly arranged songs would strike the best balance."

Each member also highlighted their favorite songs to perform. Seulong chose 'This Song' (이노래), explaining, "Among our title tracks, I enjoy singing 'This Song' because it allows for a more relaxed vocal delivery, unlike many of our songs that require powerful choruses." Jinwoon selected 'You Can't Let Go' (죽어도 못 보내), Changmin picked 'My Love Is' (내 사랑은 말야), and Jo Kwon favored 'Today' (오늘따라) as their preferred tracks to sing.

In closing, 2AM shared their thoughts on what makes a good singer. They expressed, "A good singer is someone who articulates what I want to say. When I go to karaoke after a breakup, every breakup song feels like it’s about me. A singer who can convey my current emotions and thoughts is what I consider a good singer, someone who represents my feelings."
