21 Finalists Revealed for SBS's Universe League
The highly anticipated moment has arrived as 21 finalists for SBS's global boy group audition program, Universe League (유니버스 리그), are set to be unveiled. In the episode airing on January 18, 2025, 13 contestants will be eliminated ahead of the final round.
Following the third round of league matches, three contestants were eliminated, leaving 34 participants in the competition. However, only 21 can advance to the finals, with each team allowed to send seven members, resulting in the need for 13 eliminations.
The selection process for the finalists involves two methods: 'fan selection' and 'director selection.' The top contestants from global fan votes will secure their spots in the finals, while the remaining positions will be filled by choices made by the team directors.
Based on the final team rankings, Team Rhythm, which secured first place, will send five contestants through fan votes. Team Groove, in second place, will have three representatives, and Team Beat, in third, will contribute one member. A total of nine finalists will emerge from the votes of fans across 193 countries.
In Team Beat, only one contestant will be chosen by fan votes. Meanwhile, Team Rhythm will feature the top contestant who not only ranked first in the team but also overall, astonishing everyone with over one million votes.
Following this, additional finalists will be announced based on the directors' selections: two from Team Rhythm, four from Team Groove, and six from Team Beat, totaling 12 additional members. The remaining 13 contestants will face elimination, with many expressing their anxiety about the results, stating, "My hands are sweating" as they await their fate. All eyes are on who will make it to the finals and who will be among the eliminated.
The ninth episode of SBS's Universe League will air on January 18 at 6 PM.
