2025 APEC High-Level Meeting Volunteers Selected in Gyeongbuk

On January 31, Gyeongbuk Province announced the selection of 202 volunteers for the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM). This meeting serves as a crucial platform for substantive discussions and decisions on key agenda items ahead of the APEC Leaders' Meeting.
The first SOM will take place from February 24 to March 9 at the Bomun Tourist Complex in Gyeongju, where over 100 meetings are expected to occur, attracting around 2,000 delegates from APEC member countries.
A total of 972 individuals applied for the volunteer positions, with the selected group comprising 149 individuals in their 20s (73.7%) and 19 individuals aged 60 and above (10%). In terms of gender, 64 are male (31%) and 138 are female (69%). Among the volunteers, 61 are residents of Gyeongju, making up 30% of the total, while 141 (70%) come from other regions. Additionally, 23 foreign nationals (12%) from APEC member countries, including the United States, China, and Vietnam, were also chosen.
The selected volunteers will undergo basic training and practical field training before engaging in various activities related to the SOM, including immigration, transportation, accommodation, tourism, and meeting management from February 22 to March 10.
Kim Sang-cheol, head of the APEC Preparatory Support Team, expressed his commitment to ensuring that this SOM will be the most successful in history, working closely with the volunteers.
