2024 MBC Acting Awards Celebrate Stellar Performances

The 2024 MBC Acting Awards, held on January 5, marked a significant conclusion to the year, celebrating the talented actors who graced MBC dramas. The prestigious Grand Prize was awarded to Han Suk-kyu for his role in '이토록 친밀한 배신자' (The Betrayer). Reflecting on his career, Han shared, "Family has always been the central theme of my work, and I wanted to convey the importance of family through this project."

Lee Ha-nee, who won the Best Actress award in the mini-series category for '밤에 피는 꽃' (Flowers Bloom at Night), expressed her gratitude, stating, "I never thought I would receive such a significant award. I owe this to the wonderful people I met along the way. This award is for those who sacrifice for others in this world."

The Best Actor award in the mini-series category was shared by Yoo Yeon-seok for '지금 거신 전화는' (The Call You’re Making Now) and Lee Je-hoon for '수사반장 1958' (Detective Chief 1958). Yoo emphasized that the award represents the hard work of the entire cast and crew, while Lee expressed his commitment to honoring the legacy of his mentor, Choi Bul-am.

The event also recognized various dramas that captivated audiences throughout the year. '백설공주에게 죽음을-Black Out' (Death to Snow White) won five awards, including Best Actor for Byun Yo-han, while '지금 거신 전화는' took home four trophies, including Best Couple. '수사반장 1958' was awarded Drama of the Year.

Choi Bul-am received a special achievement award for his long-standing contributions to the industry, and a posthumous special gratitude plaque was awarded to the late Kim Soo-mi, with her connection to MBC moving the audience.

The ceremony also unveiled MBC's exciting lineup for 2025, featuring diverse genres such as '모텔 캘리포니아' (Motel California) and '언더커버 하이스쿨' (Undercover High School).

Due to a recent tragic airplane accident, the awards were recorded to honor the victims, with all winners expressing their condolences during their acceptance speeches. The 2024 MBC Acting Awards not only celebrated the past year's achievements but also looked forward to the future of MBC dramas.
