2024 MAMA Awards: SEVENTEEN Takes Home Two Grand Prizes, aespa Wins Six Awards Including Song of the Year

The 2024 MAMA Awards, held on the afternoon of the 23rd at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan, saw SEVENTEEN and aespa emerge as the big winners of the night. SEVENTEEN claimed the prestigious 'Album of the Year' and 'Artist of the Year' awards, while aespa celebrated a total of six wins, including 'Song of the Year' for their hit 'Supernova'.
The first award presented was 'Album of the Year', with SEVENTEEN's member Dokyeom expressing gratitude, stating, "I am so thankful to receive the Album of the Year award again this year, just like last year. Thank you so much to our fans, Carats. It feels wonderful to be rewarded for our hard work this year."
Sungkwan added, "The award is called Album of the Year for a reason. Yesterday was Woozi's birthday, and I want to thank him for his significant contribution to this album. This album was also made with the hard work of Jun and Jeonghan, who are not here today. We will continue to create great albums in the future."
During his acceptance speech, Sungkwan led the audience in singing the chorus of their title track 'God of Music', allowing fans to join in.
aespa's 'Song of the Year' award was met with disbelief from the group. They expressed, "We never imagined this. We are so grateful for the love 'Supernova' has received, and it is truly an honor. We will continue to work hard to produce great music in the future. Thank you so much to our fans, MYs, for all the love this year. We are also thankful to everyone who has supported us. We love our company, SM Entertainment. Our goal this year was to win a grand prize, and we are so happy to achieve that at MAMA."
aespa also reflected on their return to MAMA after three years, noting the absence of fans during the pandemic and expressing joy at being able to share the moment with their supporters in such a large venue.
The final award of the night, 'Artist of the Year', was also awarded to SEVENTEEN. Dokyeom expressed his gratitude, saying, "I am so thankful to receive two major awards at MAMA. The reason we can receive these awards is because of our Carats. Thank you for making today a happy day."

Woozi also shed tears during the acceptance speech, saying, "SEVENTEEN has won a grand prize for two consecutive years, and this year we received two. It was unimaginable. It was my birthday yesterday, and receiving this award feels like the best gift."
As the main producer of SEVENTEEN's albums, Woozi stated, "I have been making music for ten years, and I can confidently say I have never neglected my music studies. I will continue to repay this love with great music. I believe the best way to repay as an artist is through the best music. We will remain steadfast as thirteen members."
