The 2024 KBS Acting Awards, which were postponed due to the national mourning period following the tragic incident at Muan International Airport, will finally be broadcast next week. According to reports on January 2, the ceremony is expected to air on either January 7 or January 11, after the mourning period concludes.
This year's awards will celebrate a variety of drama genres, including mini-series, weekend dramas, daily dramas, and one-act plays, reflecting on the performances that brought joy and emotion to viewers throughout the year.
Notable nominees for the Grand Prize include Lee Soon-jae for '개소리' (Barking), Ji Hyun-woo and Lim Soo-hyang for '미녀와 순정남' (Beauty and the Beast), Kim Jung-hyun and Park Ji-young for '다리미 패밀리' (Iron Family), and Kim Ha-neul for '멱살 한번 잡힙시다' (Let’s Grab the Collar).
The event will feature a special opening show directed by Kinky, along with performances from Kim Da-hyun, who sang the OST for '미녀와 순정남', the Yuk Joong-wan Band performing the OST for '다리미 패밀리', and musical star Ok Joo-hyun from 'Mata Hari'.
Originally scheduled for December 31 at KBS in Yeouido, Seoul, the awards were set to be broadcast live on KBS2. However, following the tragic accident on December 29, which led to a national mourning period lasting until January 4 at midnight, the decision was made to postpone the event.
In addition to the 2024 KBS Acting Awards, other major events such as the 2024 SBS Entertainment Awards, 2024 MBC Music Festival, and 2024 MBC Acting Awards were also canceled or postponed in light of the somber national atmosphere.
