To form numbers larger than 10, we combine the digit with one of the numbers above.
Now form higher numbers, we combine the digit with the word for 10, this way:
- 202 x 10: 이십
- 404 x 10: 사십
- 606 x 10: 육십
- 909 x 10: 구십
With this, we can add a digit to form:
- 222 x 10 + 2: 이십이
- 353 x 10 + 5: 삼십오
- 717 x 10 + 1: 칠십일
- 949 x 10 + 4: 구십사
100, 1.000, 10.000 in Korean
We can keep using the pattern we saw above for 100, 1000, 10.000 etc...:
- 2002 x 100 : 이백
- 4004 x 100 : 사백
- 6,0006 x 1.000 : 육천
- 9,0009 x 1.000 : 구천
- 30,0003 x 10.000 : 삼만
- 80,0008 x 10.000 : 팔만
Although it becomes a bit harder, the pattern stays the same:
Of course, you will need a bit of practice before mastering these numbers naturally.
Keep training yourself with our practice questions!
